Flower Alchemy by KarenBetten.com
“Flowers are mirrors, reflecting back to us the keys to our own awakening and transformation..revealing the qualities that most want to be amplified.”
– Katie Hess “Flower Revolution”
LOTUS WEI, a heart-centered flower apothecary
Lotus Wei, one of the world’s leading floral apothecaries, was created and founded by Katie Hess, a flower alchemist. A lifelong spiritual seeker, Katie has trained internationally with flower essence practitioners and studies meditation and mindful awareness techniques with several Tibetan Buddhist masters.
I personally met Katie at her Pink Flower Lounge event in Manhattan in April of 2017. My daughter and I were blown away by the power of the experience. An evening filled with heart-centered connections with women and men from all over the New York area. We had never been to anything like it. The food, the meditations, and the practices were all infused with the power of flowers. We walked out of there, radiant, connected and filled. A feeling that can seem otherworldly in the context of Manhatten. We were further gifted on our walk home from the train by a stunning full moon that illuminated the beauty of the springtime blossoms in a way I had never really experienced before. This evening imprinted deeply in our senses the power of nature & flowers to transform inspiring us to incorporate the incredible power of flowers essences into our Full Moon events. This began the blossoming of a beautiful connection with Lotus Wei, Katie Hess and all the amazing members of this heart-centered company.
Check out the interview I did with her on the Truth is Funny radio show on Transformation Talk Radio in October 2017. Experience for yourself the amazing vibration of her voice and gentle, yet powerful approach her knowledge of the unique qualities of flowers provided for the callers seeking insight.
Plant/ Flower Alchemy
Alchemy is the medieval forerunner of chemistry and refers to the transformational properties of matter. It was primarily focused on turning lead into gold and finding the elixir of eternal life. The ruling classes invested an incredible number of resources into this ambition. Neither target was necessarily reached but the journey led to what today is collectively termed chemistry; the study of the structure, properties, composition, and reactions of matter. So flower/plant alchemy refers to the transformative properties, structure, composition, and reactions of plants/flowers…..yes, flowers.
We experience plant alchemy with each breath we take in. Plants produce oxygen which in turn transforms and nourishes the human body. In flower alchemy instead of taking in just oxygen, we take in the nourishing properties of the flower essence suspended in water. “Flowers are like the antenna of Mother Earth….of all the different parts of the plant, the blossoms have the strongest bioenergetic value because the flowers are the reproductive system of the plant and contain the most life force” (Hess, Karen Flower Evolution, pg. 36)
Flower alchemy is based on the premise that your body operates like a finely-tuned instrument. Flower essences act as a natural tuning fork — bringing your body back in tune with a subtle electrical vibration.
Flower remedies are extremely effective. Doctors in Europe regularly utilize there transformative properties in practice and they are available in almost every large pharmacy in Australia. They have been used for thousands of years in a variety of cultures from the Australian Aborigines to the ancient Egyptians. In the US you may have heard of Bach flower remedies, created by Dr. Edward Bach, a British physician who became disillusioned with the medical system’s focus on just treating symptoms and wanted to get at the root cause of physical imbalances. Those of you who have had BodyTalk here at Limitless Living know that physical symptoms are rarely the source of the physical imbalance.
How do they work?
Have you ever noticed how going out into nature can ease the mind and lessen the charge of perceived conflicts and challenges? Nature has a way of viscerally reminding us of the interconnectedness of everything. And flower essence can do the same. A bit like taking in nature where ever you are…a valuable experience in the NY metro area 🙂
Have you ever noticed how you have a certain attraction to particular flowers more than others? Each flower has a unique quality. Our attraction to flowers can give us insight into the unique fabric of our own inner landscape. Flower essences that are chosen via our personal resonance can support us to manifest more of what we resonate within our lives. Taken daily flower essences can support us to manifest more of our unique truth despite the frequent distractions of the daily ebb and flow of life.
“Flower remedies ease the heart, heal the body and awaken the mind.” — Katie Hess, Lotus Wei
Flowers are collected at the peak of the blooming cycle and then placed in water. They are soaked in the sunlight or moonlight depending on their qualities to infuse the water with the vibrational frequency of the flower. To understand this more and see the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto with water crystal photography click HERE. This flower water is mixed with alcohol to preserve freshness and then diluted to the point where there are no actual molecules left in the essence.
